While visiting the Charles Mears State Park dog-friendly beach, I had the pleasure of ‘interviewing’ and photographing some of the happiest beachgoers—the dogs themselves! From wagging tails to sandy paws, these pups had plenty to ‘say’ about their day at the beach, as I captured it all puparazzi style. I met so many different types of dogs, and to my surprise, there was even an official ‘beach invasion’ by the West Michigan Pugs group! This was cuteness overload, and I now understand why pug owners can’t stop at just one—multiply the pugs, and you multiply the smiles!
If you’re looking for a special place to enjoy a day out with your dog, Pentwater’s Charles Mears State Park is the perfect spot. It’s one of the few dog-friendly beaches along Lake Michigan, making it a rare and valuable resource for dog owners in the area.
Taking your dog out in public offers more than just exercise. A walk along the pier where they can watch boats leaving the harbor and sailboats on the horizon keeps their minds active and curious. Dogs thrive on new environments, and these outdoor experiences provide important mental stimulation, helping keep them sharp and engaged.
Letting your dog meet new people and pups builds good behavior and confidence in new situations. At Charles Mears, you and your dog can walk the shore, enjoy the cool breeze, or splash happily in the lake.
And with plenty of beautiful beach days left in the year, it’s the perfect time to treat your dog to a pet portrait photography session. Together, we’ll capture stunning images of your furry friend and preserve the memory of your special day at the beach for years to come!
